The gals at Birth Pangs are trying to goad me to name one “legitamite” (re:feminist) anti-violence group that supports C-484.
First, we didn’t ask for a ‘legitamite’ group — though if we had, we would have spelled it correctly — we asked for a ‘reputable, established’ organization working against violence against women.
We did not say this:
Because it can only be legitamite if feminists support it. If non-feminists support it, then it’s no good.
(Gigi, in the comments there, ponders what a non-feminist anti-violence organization might counsel its clients.)
Then SHE puts more words in our mouth:
If I lose my fetus, the feminist answer is: tough luck! There’s only one body! Your beloved unborn child did not exist! Too bad!

We are against this bill because it serves no purpose EXCEPT to reopen the abortion ‘debate’.

Suzy’s (sort-of) response has the intellectual integrity of a schoolyard bully. She appeals to what she calls “common sense” but she doesn’t really answer your call.
She’s feeling the need to respond to the challenge but, as you anticipated, she can’t. Taking a cue from the play-book of the flat-earth advocates, she impugns the people who’ve made the challenge. The common sense that she appeals to is couched in terms of ownership – - this is probably a safe, simple, and familiar conceptual framework to her fans.
Hey! We could have separate crimes for a long list of body parts – instead of just Assault. It could be like that ranking of damaged body parts on the grade school insurance forms.
“Common sense” is not an argument – - when she figures out how to turn on ‘Spellcheck’ maybe Suzy could get someone to install ‘Thinkcheck’, too.

If ya couple the evident aversion to the word legitimate with the flat-earth logic of her response to your challenge do ya get, perhaps, a hint of what motivates all-caps.
Was she a wanted child? How else to explain the beside-the-point blustering of her response. I think she might be driven by emotion rather than ideology. A series of logical face-plants, back-flips, and prat-falls do not an argument make. It’s like the scene in the Emerald City – ‘Pay no attention to that little all-caps behind the screen’ – - “I am SUZY”
She sounds confident that her tired talking points will sooth and reassure her fans and acolytes while actually SHE COMPLETELY IGNORES THE SUBSTANCE OF THE CHALLENGE. I hope that her assessment of the intelligence of her fans is wrong. She thinks that her fans are idiots – - I hope it ain’t so.

It’s certainly past thinking. It’s shameful that she wants anyone who beats a pregnant woman and who harms the fetus to not receive more punishment. Truly. Just shameful.
And it’s highly disgusting to me personally that she agrees that women “provoke” their own abuse, and that the hubby should be allowed to do so and walk, even if he harms the fetus. Ya as those of us who can read know….. that’s that hidden goody in C-484 for all wife beaters. 900 ft Jesus did a good job of pointing that out……
Interesting to note is how the Bill will protect perpetrators of domestic abuse to some degree by giving them an out:
Reduced offence
(2) An offence that would otherwise be an offence under paragraph (1)(a) may be reduced to an offence under paragraph (1)(b) if the person who committed the offence did so in the heat of passion caused by sudden provocation within the meaning of section 232.
So if a woman provokes the man and he beats her, causing a miscarriage, his sentenced could be reduced, because, you know, she provoked him. Epp is also very dishonest in presenting statistics to support his claim that most women and Canadians agree with his Bill. Again, the truth and trickery is revealed in the wording. Epp uses statistics to show:
