You supporters of Bill C-484, ‘An Act to Amend to Amend the Criminal Code (injuring or causing the death of an unborn child while committing an offense)’, insist that the bill has nothing to do with women’s rights (i.e. zip zero nada nuttin’ to do with abortion). You keep carping repeating that it is all about PROTECTING pregnant women.
OK. So. Here’s the challenge. Find one reputatable, established organization working against violence against women that publicly endorses this bill and we’ll shut up.
Now, this may be hard on you. You will probably have to talk to feminists, seeing as feminists are the pioneers and persisters in this field.
But we’ll help. To get you going, go to the Public Health Agency of Canada where you can download the National Directory, a 69-page document titled ‘Transition Houses and Shelters for Abused Women’. Sadly, this handy booklet hasn’t been updated since 2004, so it may not be that accurate, but you know that misogynist Conservative government you helped vote in cut a whack of dough from programs intended to help women.
There are a couple of research centres focused on women’s issues, including violence, still standing though. You could try the Centre for Research on Violence Against Women and Children or the FREDA Centre.

Or the
Canadian Medical Association, whose ‘Prevention of violence against women recomendations’ unaccountably do NOT include creating ‘personhood’ for a fetus.
Just one organization. That shouldn’t be so hard, should it? You know, because anybody working to ACTUALLY protect women would be 110% behind this lying piece of crap legislation, right?
