In a time of war and economic collapse one would think that the issues of the day would be how to save jobs and homes and bring peace and stability. Yet this is not the case. Many see the election as the perfect time to get snuggly with other people’s private bits and decide what they can or should do with them.
The consequence of electing questionable leadership based on a pro-life promise is starkly evident. Just look at the litany of dilemmas that has worsened on their watch.
Our nation has been brought to its knees by economic ruin on a grand scale, by an oppressively costly and broken health-care system, unfunded educational mandates that paralyze budget-strapped school districts across America, a financially crippling energy crisis, and an unjustified war without end in Iraq.
Single-issue abortion voters got a couple of Supreme Court justices in the last eight years who may or may not favor overturning Roe vs. Wade, should the decision ever be theirs to make. Apparently for some, that makes their vote for supposedly “pro-life” candidates worth casting a ballot with a blind eye toward other culture-of-life problems that may be notoriously low on the priority list of select politicians.
As long as these officeholders espouse the “correct” anti-abortion-rights rhetoric and positions, they don’t have to produce any practical life-affirming results that come from actually fighting for something like a livable wage or universal health care. In their political careers they can routinely ignore those living on the margins of life and still count on the anti-abortion rights vote election after election.
It does one’s heart good to read the words of someone who doesn’t espouse God’s concern as being only for the unborn.
On the other hand are those who see abortion as the only issue and confuse a woman’s reproductive rights as a loss of freedom for themselves.
A group that advocates for separation of church and state has alerted the Internal Revenue Service to a column by Arthur Serra telli, the Roman Catholic bishop of Paterson, contending he violated rules for tax-exempt organizations by publicly criticizing Barack Obama for his support of abortion rights.
[snip]
In the column, Serratelli did not name Obama, but, referring to the “present democratic candidate” who favors the “Freedom of Choice Act,” the bishop framed the election as essential regarding the future of abortion, which the Catholic Church staunchly opposes.
“Today we live in a democracy,” Serratelli wrote. “We choose our leaders who make our laws. Every vote counts. Today, either we choose to respect and protect life, especially the life of the child in the womb of the mother, or we sanction the loss of our most basic freedoms. At this point, we are still free to choose!”
Those of the fundamental persuasion are hoping that America will be free to let God choose. Listen to the Dobson/Palin interview here h/t Dana @ The Galloping Beaver
Now I am not a believer, however, I have studied the bible and I’m pretty sure that God doesn’t like to be tested. (Something to do with bad SAT scores I think) In fact I’m pretty sure there are admonitions throughout the bible that followers are to have faith and not ask for miracles or proof of God’s hand. It makes one wonder then if Dobson has a different book from which he reads when he states that they are praying for Palin’s election and in fact boldly asked for a miracle.
And speaking of the VP wannabe, Palin doesn’t really seem to have a problem with abortion clinic bombers, rather she continues to chant Ayers as if she is in a Flo.ridra video, “Make me throw my hands in the ayer, a-ayer, ayer, a-ayer”
And the Presidential wannabe is for the protection of these domestic terrorists as well
On multiple occasions throughout his career, McCain sought to limit the government’s ability to punish violent anti-choice fanatics by:
– Voting against making anti-choice violence a federal crime.
– Opposing Colorado’s “Bubble Law.”
– Voting to allow those fined for violence at clinics to avoid penalties by declaring bankruptcy.

Of course with all this love for the unborn McCain must have great policies for children…well not so much “McCain Rated As America’s Worst Senator For Children”
But surely Palin the hockey mom and defender of babies has shown her support for children and familes..again not so much
Gov. Palin has been in office for less than two years. Her track record on children’s healthcare is short; however, her failure to act on child health insurance is very revealing. Despite significant public pressure, Palin declined to support the bill that would have extended medical coverage to an additional 1200 children and 530 pregnant women for a mere $875,000.

The Fabulous Freaky Foetus Fetisher Festival has pulled their circus into every town in America. Like most circus’s once seen in the daylight the allure is never the same. Let us hope that more and more voters will have the opportunity to see that while the elephants may seem docile and put on a great show, they are just waiting for the opportunity to stampede and trample everything in their way.
