Canadian Blog Awards opens Feminist category to anti-feminists.

This year, the Canadian Blog Awards created a Best Feminist Blog category, thus defined:

Those blogs that are devoted to gender equality, write about women’s issues, or write from a feminist perspective are eligible for this category.

Within hours, sda received a slew of nominations from her tongue-lolling, crotch-scratching fans. Other rightwing female bloggers were nominated, albeit without the attendant frenzy of the admirers that sda commands who rushed the CBA site like so many grotty little boys comparing the length of their posts and the ejaculatory reach of their verbosity. All deleted now by a CBA moderator who had to dip her laptop in bleach after that little display of frothing fannitude for sda.

It’s evident that those who nominated a slate of anti-feminists to the Best Feminist Blog category did so deliberately to corrupt the category.

None of those bloggers write about gender equality, women’s issues or from a feminist perspective. Blob Blogging Wingnut writes obsessively about criminalizing abortion from a fundamentalist Catholic perspective.

Those blogging gals proudly claim to live a life unfettered by any of the oppressions denounced by the feminazis, and greatly enjoy the hard-won freedoms won by the feminist movement. Yet day after day they crap all over feminists.

If the moderators of CBA do not reject these nominations, that category is meaningless. And no better proof of that fact is the gleeful orgy of self-fellation happening here.

Update: The grotty boys persist at the abominominations(©Alison) site:

I notice that shortly after some entries are posted (consisting ONLY of the Blog Name and Blog URL), the post is deleted. What’s with deleting some of the nominations? Is the voting result known already?

Incapable of reading and understanding instructions too, it seems.

Your title is premature. You don’t know who our judge(s) will accept to the category yet.

I’m sure dBo was just letting you know that we’re watching.

Its ok everyone. No matter what the clusterf*ck does.
Get out of the way before you get tossed under the bus again eh?

  4. deBeauxOs says:

At the moment I blogged this post, the nominations were still visible in that category.

Last year at the Fwords, there were several attempts by the wingnuts to nom their own idiots in order to stir something up. You never saw those noms, and that is the way to act responsibly and to keep the awards from becoming a disaster. Leaving this stuff until later is just a good way to start a war.
Negative vibes and hard feelings are all that will come of that. I realize that there is a short term memory for some bloggers….But I think many of us will recall what happened last year.

    :)

Nip it in the bud. That is the only way to maintain credibility. Once these loons get a foothold they will do everything to degrade the category while painting themselves as victims (their second favourite pastime).

I think deBeauxOs’s first solution, which was deleted from the CBA thread, was best. Create an Anti-Feminist category for them.

There are no progressive bloggers being nominated in the conservative category, or vice versa, because there is an alternative.

  8. Gigi says:

Glad to see they learned from last year’s fiasco.

Meh. I think I’ll skip the Comic Sans Beaver Freeper Awards this year again. I just don’t want to be anywhere near the same web page as the demented syncophants of SDA et al.

Demented is an understatement, don’t you think?

Many of those men, if they walk the talk they spout at sda and other anti-feminist blogs are a danger to women. The only barrier between the violence they threaten to do, and acting upon the impulses they describe is their fear of criminal charges.

Disclaimer: Many posts on this site are tongue-in-cheek. But make no mistake: We don't joke about challenging those who oppose women's control over their reproductive health. Protecting women's rights is serious business. So here you'll find news and views, facts and figures, drawn from Canada and the rest of the world. At all times, Birth Pangs is written with a recognition that choice is choice. We fully respect a woman's choice to have babies just as much as we respect her choice not to.
