A nine year old girl, pregnant with twins because she was (allegedly) raped by her step father has had an abortion. In doing so she has been deemed a murderer by the church.
“It’s the law of God: Do not kill. We consider this murder,” Miranda said in comments reported by O Globo.
Too bad they didn’t save any of their outrage for the perpetrator or any of their holier than thou concern for the girl.

Abortion upsets me, but the lack of compassion by church officials in this one is infuriating. And I note, too, that the church said nothing about the stepfather who almost seems to have been applauded for raping the poor girl. Where the hell are our priorities with an attitude like that?
They would rather risk a nine year old girl’s life? Have they no compassion or sense of decency? And what of the step-father? Is he still allowed to take freaking communion?

I am sooooo sick at this story, but I’m not nearly as sick as my Catholic relatives who are right now scrambling to disavow any ties with a criminal terrorist organization that calls itself a church.
The foremost reason I support the pro-choice is woman’s rightful desire for control their bodies. Pregnancy can cause significant risk and damage on woman’s health and career. Do you think that there should be a double standard for healthy women and women with significant health problems when it comes to the government interference against abortion? I don’t think anyone can make the important decision for anyone else but herself.
You cannot be serious. The girl did it for health reasons, so is it murder, or self-preservation? Sacrifice your health and “maybe” live to give a “maybe” chance to two babies procreated from hate? Rape which leads to pregnancy is evil, but calling someone evil for trying to erase the rape, that name calling is the true evil in this story.
It is events like this that have made me a confirmed atheist. There is no “just God” as claimed. If there was a real god he would not allow any harm to come to any child. The churches stance on abortion is thoughtless, mindless, arrogant and dangerous. All religiions have the same tenet. Do as we say or you go to hell. Not me. When I go it will just be lights out and a satisfied soul if such exists.
