Dear Mr. Franklin,

I suggest you acquaint yourself with Canadian libel laws before you threaten people.

http://duhaime.org/LegalDictionary/F/FairComment.aspx

It's called ''fair comment.'' Deal with it.

I wish you luck with your morning sickness-inducing cards.

As a past contributor to Birth Pangs, I now write at a different site that holds up to ridicule all forms of rightwing religious zealotry. I've read the post above and visited the link; I think the words written by April Reign are right on target.

Pregnancy and labour is a familiar process as I've given life and birth to a daughter. A first pregnancy ended in miscarriage in the first trimester.

While I'm sure that you're excited that your insipid drawings and rhyming doggerel may potentially make you a millionaire, threatening people who disagree with your opportunism won't earn you a penny.

I've looked at your products and I'm not impressed. Given the steady rise in infertility, complicated and life-threatening pregnancies and birth defects, there will be a great number of women and men who will be offended by the vapid cheerfulness of your greeting cards.

In fact, I predict that while the novelty of your product will capture public and media interest at first, that will wear off eventually. Sorry, but I think you're a one-trick pony whose products will nonetheless be highly valued by the religious fanatics who believe that their god gave women wombs so they would breed.

By the way, this is Canada - not the US - and I don't buy your fake niceness. Go find someone else to bully, preferably in your own country.

Well Keith
A) in my opinion some things much like the conception itself should be kept private.
B) the words Baby on the Way Collection link straight to your site and are not being used for profit or any other way that could in any normal persons mind be construed as a violation of trademark.
C) you put it out there - you don't get to determine who writes about it. In either of our countries the short post above is fair use/dealing.
D) back off or I'll spank your litigious little ass with a harassment suit.

April,

I wrote letters to my wife 4 years ago from our baby on the way that have since turned into greeting cards from babies on the way during pregnancy. We are in 177 stores in 2 months and have shipped close to 70,000 cards out of which 30% are re orders. What this means is that the public loves the beauty of messages from our babies on the way. Describing it at a disgusting level of anything shows your character. I'm sure that you are a struggling blog writer trying to stir up something but truthfully, I think the american public, when they read the cards will not follow you on this one. I'm in talks right now with the biggest chains and companies in the country and they all love the concept so i would encourage strongly that you read the cards again and have some mothers read the cards so that you can get a true response before you try to make it look like something bad. In addition, this is a nice encouraging message for you so that you may rectify a premature attack on my card line. Going forward, I will have my attorneys keep an eye on you and just so you are aware, Baby on the Way Collection™ is a trademark in which I own that you have not been granted the authorization to use, so once again I ask nicely that you no longer use my trademarked phrases and or links to my site if you feel the way you do about the line. Nice this time, lawyers next time.

I suppose if he was a homo campaigning for gay "rights," you'd be cheering him on. Or try this on for size: if the federal government funded anti-abortion campaigns and withheld funds from abortion services, and Little was refusing to pay his taxes because he was pro-choice -- then it is a dead certainty you'd be cheering him on. And you know bloody well I'm right. This blog piece actually says more about your own prejudice and ideology than it does about David Little or abortion.
