Welcome to Corrente, skdadl. Corrente is a hangout of (D) people many of whom are angry about the primaries, some of them for rather, um, baroque reasons, and consequently it is a veritable minefield of competitive nitpicking. And you just stepped in a collective nitpick! Congratulations!

Well, I was going to comment briefly anyway (took a while to get signed up), but by the time I got there, that silly imperialist woman had commented, so I had to say more.
What -- you mean the conversation has continued? Must go look.

You've been called out again at Corrente, skdadl. Your last post stepped in at least two meta-minefields. Corrente is great for unacknowledged meta. I'm like the Ambassador from Meta over there. "Hello! You're living in meta!"
"But...but...but...they treated Hillary SO BADLY!" Actually, they don't do the Hillary callout, but still---they want you to provide Evidence.

BTW, they think you're a dude. Your account may still be active but Lambert probably knows you're associated with me. I've been asked to "take a break" which is pretty much what happens to anyone who nitpicks his nitpicks. Now trying to get in touch with an erstwhile likewise-banned comrade in arms...

 Re: Recently Written
Good God. What featherbrains. I suppose I'll go back at some point and write a last post, but that will certainly be it for me. I hate to play the age card, but they're pretty young and all Americans, yes? Superficial, xenophobic (and that's a euphemism) ... Beyond that, they don't read carefully, or they certainly don't write very carefully, and they just fling details around. What's the point of trying to have a discussion with that?

 Re: Recently Written
Entirely Americans except for an occasional comment by old pal Ian Welsh. Lambert the owner is apparently middle-aged or older. They have a couple of very strong strengths which are health care reform blogging and bailout blogging. But Lambert subscribes to this Theory (brought about by reading the Daily Howler a little too often, I think) that the problems in American politics are a result of incorrect citation rather than bad ideas/theories. With this alibi, he can bog any criticism of his ideas down in details, and that sets the tone for the site. I call it the Some Gambit. My favorite Corrente writer (an older dude called bringiton) disappeared a few weeks ago, and now I know that he too criticized the Some Gambit and got canned. I've been trying to figure out how to get in touch with him since.
ETA: BTW, you've been asked for more details but you've probably been banned now since Lambert says that he doesn' t need more trolls. Also your "pretty obviously" has been condemned for being academic weasel-wordery. It's truly amazing. I've joined the previous blogspot version of Corrente where all the people who didn't buy the tears over the primary have ended up. A lot of people also kind of rubberneck at it. However, it *is* the place to go for American health care reform blogging...

Oh, and, they have a huge chip on their shoulder about FDL, Daily Kos, Atrios, etc, etc. Some of the critique I "get" but it is taken to overwrought dramatic lengths.

 Re: Recently Written
Heh. Go see what has happened, Mandos. skdadl has been banned! First time evah! And banned as a troll, no less! (I had already invited moderator to go ahead, but noted it would be redundant by the time he got there.) Honestly: in that group, I consider it an honour. I'm sorry if I was the cause of your banning, but it looked to me as though mod was itching to do that anyway. As far as I'm concerned, you and I were having a discussion, and the others were the trolls. The whole Hillary thing went right by me until I read the last new comment this a.m. -- it doesn't mention Hillary, but I gather that's the subtext? Why on earth should I give a damn about Hillary? We were talking about Afghanistan and women, and I am a Canadian. I couldn't give a flying fig for their electoral politics -- I barely care for ours. Honestly, Mandos: they are not very bright. I was trying to stay above the fray, but I so wanted to ask "zuzu" whether her real name was Alvin. Talking to her is like trying to talk to a chipmunk.

I guess it's just as well, then, that I also did not fire one other parting shot I'd thought of, about going off to talk to the grown-ups at FDL. I'm sorry, Mandos, if you wanted to stay there, but you invited us, and you know how I'm gonna write wherever I am.

 Re: Recently Written
skdadl: In Lambert's defense, he has the good habit of letting most of his commenters write front-page posts, which is why I hung around there for a few months. But yes, the Infinite Subtext is Hillary. Zuzu was well known on the US feminist blogosphere as a regular writer at Feministe (for some reason no longer, I didn't pay attention to that episode) and she has IIRC written some cogent stuff on fat as a feminist issue.
However, my experiences on the American blogosphere has led me to the perhaps unfair generalization that Americans as a group are culturally prone to fundamentalisms across the political spectrum to an extent that Canadians are generally not. Certainly there's a lot of opportunity to rubberneck the Xtreme Blog Dwama. Anyway, Corrente is not exactly the first place I've been banned as a troll.
Anyway, I was going to get canned sooner or later, so I'm not blaming you or anything. I just wish I had gotten bringiton's contact info sooner, he's the one person I'm really going to miss there, I have no idea how to find him, argh. He and I were Corrente's Ambassadors from Meta. Now the Meta Embassy has been fully expelled.
croghan27: Yep, I'm not surprised he cancelled your account. Pretty much anyone associated with me is probably poison now. Oh, the dwama!

Certainly there's a lot of opportunity to rubberneck the Xtreme Blog Dwama. See, that is one of the reasons I like EW's place so much (most of the time). There is a kind of unspoken agreement that people are there to do detective work on things everyone already agrees are serious. Especially no one is interested in the general blog drama. The only right-wingers they poke, mainly, are the ones with real political or media power, which of course provides the detective work. But no bloggy feud stuff. They even managed to keep that 'way down during the election. If you wanted to do the Clinton-Obama mutual-recriminations thing, there was some room for that at FDL, but bmaz mainly kept it swept out of EW. Unfortunately, just yesterday they all succumbed to triumphalism over the pirates, even though we'd had an intelligent thread on the subject just a day before. So as I said, yes, sometimes even the wheelers will remind me that I am not an American, and I'm glad of that. They wouldn't snipe, though, at anyone who made a serious political criticism. I'm always very polite when I'm there, but lots of strong voices will turn up that allow me to agree with them at least, and no one gets mad at the disloyal Canucks.
